Like worship, preaching is something we do all the time and has a massive impact on our ministry, yet we seldom get input or upskilling in it.

With extensive DVD input from some of our country’s most respected expository preachers (see ‘Contributors’) this course will inform, challenge and inspire both the experienced preacher and the aspiring lay preacher. Like its predecessor, this course is packed with quotes, insights from history’s great preachers and some impressive resources. With a discussion and DVD format the sessions are designed to be done with others – whether that means the other preachers in your church, other ministers you meet with or anyone with an interest in preaching.

What does it cover?

The nine sessions cover things like: improving your story telling; better illustrations; motivating people toward change; how to train your lay preachers; upfront skills and what’s unique about kiwi audiences. With a discussion and DVD format the sessions are designed to be done with others - whether that means the other preachers in your church, other ministers you meet with, or anyone with an interest in preaching.

While these nine sessions are aimed at experienced and trained preachers, there are also three preliminary sessions for beginners who have not done a preaching course before or had theological training.  These three sessions cover how to examine (exegete) a passage of Scripture; some values that drive preaching and the skills and tools of the trade.
